Review: Pathfinder ST

I'm test riding a Pathfinder ST from Boomer Bicycles this week, courtesy of The eBike Store. It's a great bike thus far, and I'm looking forward to putting it through its paces. Are there any specifics that you'd like me to look at or test for? I've only got it for a week, but plan to do a lot of riding in that time. Range, convenience, weight, charge time, anything else you're curious about?

  1. What happens it its range if you take on a serious hill, like say, downtown Portland up to the Zoo?

  2. I rode up the Mississippi hill today as part of my regular commute, and it held fairly well (with pedaling in top gear) at about 15 mph. Range-wise, tough to call. I'll do a complete range test later this week. Thanks for the comment!

  3. How does it ride without the power on?

  4. Without the power on, its definitely slower than a regular bicycle; its not super different from a classic heavy-framed Dutch bike. It's certainly more fun with the battery, but a dead battery won't leave you stranded somewhere.

  5. I've owned a Pathfinder for about 6 months and have about about400 miles on it. For the price, durability and performance...it's a excellent bike. We have few large hills in South FL, but the bike handles the hills I can find with ease. Power remains constant at about 20.7 mph for about 5-8 miles when it falls just under 20 for another 5-8 miles (depending on terrain). I bought this bike after riding 5 of the most popular brands and found all but the EMS E+ far below their value(although A2B makes a cute electric bike but does not pedal well). For price, pedal assist, throttle, performance and a very well made product...Pathfinder is worth the money for a cruiser electric bike! PS. Bike America offers the best price!

  6. In the past, e-scooters and battery powered scooters have been built with sealed lead acid batteries and nickle hydride batteries. Both have their advantages - mainly price. Electricscooters are offering a new line of scooters that feature Lithium Ion batteries. There are several very good reasons they chose to do this.

  7. I just bought a Pathfinder ST and it is the most comfortable and easy to ride bike I've ever been on. I found the bicycling with pedals a breeze and that I tend to take it a little slow and easy using the motor. It handles great and beats any bike I've ever ridden on. Motor or no motor.

  8. If I was huffin' and puffin' up a hill and someone zoomed past me on an ebike, I might yell "cheater" or something like that as a joke. Of course he wouldn't be able to tell that I was joking because he'd be long gone.

  9. When it comes to the world of mobility scooters, there are a fair number of manufacturers that are considered to be reliable, durable and dependable.
