Tooling along as I was commuting this morning, I was pleasantly surprised to approach a co-worker, also bike commuting. The juxtaposition of riding with someone I usually interact with in a work context was interesting - it was a great opportunity to get outside the usual roles and talk/decompress about the work environment. As we crossed the Steel Bridge, I reflected on the fact that she'll soon be in Mexico on vacation, but today, we're sharing the same lane. Lucky her!
We tried to be courteous to our fellow riders - narrowing to single file as the road constricted or coming to a stop sign, for example, but still managed to get a good chat in as we rode to work. If we'd both been in cars, that wouldn't have happened.
